EVALUATION OF ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITIES OF COMBINED EXTRACTS OF CARDIOSPERMUM HALICACABUM L. AND DELONIX ELATA L. LEAVES ON EXPERIMENTAL MODELS

The present study was evaluated the anti-inflammatory acitivities of combined petroleum ether extracts of Cardiospermum halicacabum L. and Delonix elata L. leaves (CPCD) by carrageenan induced paw edema and cotton pellet-induced granuloma rat models. Oral dose of CPCD (400mg/kg b.w, p.o) and showed significant anti-inflammatory activity in carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema. This result indicated CPCD showed a maximum anti-inflammatory activity as compared to the reference drug Diclofenac sodium (100mg/kg, p.o) which showed only 70.68% inhibition. The oral dose of CPCD (400mg/kg, p.o) & standard drug Diclofenac sodium (100mg/kg, p.o) inhibited the formation of granulomatous tissue by 40.73% & 29.20% and 60.23% & 62.83%, in comparison to the Granuloma control group (P<0.01). The present observations suggested that oral dose of CPCD has a positive influence on different phases of chronic inflammatory states
