Tarenna asiatica fruits were investigated through a progressive analytical strategy using complementary pharmacological screening methods. Ethnobotanically it is used as a traditional medicine to treat several diseases including external ulcers, boils, sores, skin diseases, paralysis, wound healing etc. The anti-nociceptivity (analgesic) studies revealed that acetone extract of fruit possesses significant analgesic activity (p<0.05, 0.01) in a dose (200 mg/kg) dependent inhibition in hot plate method (reaction time 8.91 ± 0.82 s after 240 min). The acetic acid and formalin induced analgesia exhibited that the inhibition of pain by acetone extract of fruit was 49.82% and 65.40% respectively at a dose of 200 mg/kg. Hence, it can be concluded that the acetone extract of T. asiatica fruit possesses significant analgesic effects and has the potential to provide a therapeutic approach to develop pain killer.
