For any appliance fabrication, orthodontic wire is the basic need and necessity. Wire comes in different – different sizes and material and therefore each one has different properties of its own which are used for different purposes. The wire when properly selected, serves as good tool in orthodontic practice whether it is used for the purpose of fixed or removable orthodontic therapy. Different types of alloyed wires have come in market still stainless steel wire remains the choice for any basic treatment. This articles focuses on different such wires which have different uses and properties as per the material by which they are formed.
